Pit Bike Junkie Co-Founders Make History In State Series!

012St. Louis, MO. – November 1, 2013 Pit Bike Junkie co-founders “Fantasy” Jim Smoot and James “Professor” Smoot win state championship titles in the 2013 ShoMe State Pit Bike Motocross Series. They are the first father/son team to win state championships in the same year since the series began in 2008. The duo also won Track Champion titles at Midway Speedway in Lebanon, MO. (one of the stops in the 9 round schedule). 59 year old “Fantasy” Jim, known in the series as the “World’s Oldest Pit bike Racer”, took 1st place in the 30 yr. & older Vet class where he typically competes against riders up to 2 decades younger. Jim also won the Hole-shot King award for taking 1st place to the first corner in 15 out of 18 races. This is the fourth state championship title for the elder Smoot. James Smoot, 23, took 1st place in the very aggressive 12” Amateur class where riders from all over the Midwest come to test their skills. James is known in the series as the “Professor” because he is a senior engineering student at (MS&T) the Missouri University of Science & Technology and he is the mastermind of all of the special effects and racing videos on Pit Bike Junkie. The pair created Pit Bike, the online magazine that promotes the sport of pit bike racing. The site provides photos & videos of racing action, a schedule of events and information on how to get involved in the exciting world of pit bike competition.
